Advertising Content Standards
DealNews is committed to helping advertisers reach engaged shoppers while maintaining a safe, trustworthy, and high-quality experience for our audience. To support that goal, all advertised products, offers, landing pages, and creative assets must meet the standards below.
By submitting advertising materials to DealNews, the advertiser represents that the submission complies with these standards, applicable laws and regulations, platform requirements, and any other agreement between the advertiser and DealNews. DealNews may decline, remove, pause, or request changes to any advertising content at its sole discretion.
Product and Content Eligibility
DealNews does not accept advertising for products, offers, or creative materials that fall into the following categories.
Regulated, Sensitive, or Age-Restricted Products
We do not accept advertising for:
- Tobacco or nicotine products, except cigars where expressly approved by DealNews
- Vape products, e-cigarettes, vape liquids, cartridges, or related accessories
- Firearms, ammunition, weapon components, or products primarily intended to enable firearm use
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or adult sexual content
- Political campaign products, political merchandise, candidate merchandise, party merchandise, or issue-advocacy products
Firearm safety and storage products, such as gun safes, trigger locks, trigger guards, and similar safety-related accessories, may be considered. However, related creative must not depict firearms, ammunition, or unsafe firearm handling.
Safety-Sensitive Products
To help protect consumers and maintain a responsible shopping environment, DealNews does not accept advertising for certain products that present heightened safety, regulatory, or consumer-protection concerns, including:
- Infant crib bumper pads or similar crib bumper products
- Wire-bristle grill brushes
- Aftermarket or third-party LED headlight replacement or conversion products
- Automotive window tint films, tint kits, or darkening products
Removable interior sun shades, such as pull-down baby sun shades, may be considered. - Electronic pet collars that use electric shock, citronella spray, or similar aversive correction methods
- Glue traps or other inhumane pest-control products
- Gel blasters, water-bead guns, or similar projectile toys
- Toy water guns or replica toys that closely resemble real firearms
- Automatic self-cleaning litter boxes
- Carbon monoxide detectors or similar life-safety detection devices
Brand Safety, Authenticity, and Consumer Trust
DealNews does not accept advertising for products, offers, or creative that may mislead consumers, create brand-safety concerns, or undermine customer trust, including:
- Counterfeit, replica, imitation, or knockoff products
- Products that use another brand’s name, logo, product design, packaging, or trade dress in a confusing or unauthorized way
- Products featuring copyrighted or trademarked characters, logos, artwork, or entertainment properties without proper authorization
- Generic handheld game consoles or similar devices preloaded with unlicensed games or unauthorized ROMs
- Earbuds, headphones, chargers, accessories, or electronics presented as or designed to mimic Apple AirPods or other protected branded products
- Products or offers that appear fraudulent, deceptive, materially misleading, or “too good to be true”
- Products with unsupported or implausible performance claims, such as unrealistic storage capacity, battery life, brightness, speed, or technical specifications
- Discounted postage stamps or stamp-like products that cannot be verified as authentic
- Certain brands, merchants, or product lines that DealNews determines are not appropriate for its audience
Intimate, Personal, or Appearance-Related Products
DealNews may restrict or decline advertising for certain personal, intimate, or appearance-related products, including:
- Wigs and hair extensions
- Nipple covers, pasties, or similar intimate adhesive apparel
- Personal massagers or products commonly associated with adult use
DealNews may consider some apparel or personal-care products on a case-by-case basis, depending on the product, offer, landing page, and creative presentation.
Creative and Image Standards
All submitted images, copy, and landing pages must be appropriate for a general shopping audience. The following creative restrictions apply:
- Images for gun safes, trigger locks, or other firearm safety accessories must not show firearms or ammunition.
- Lingerie, underwear, or intimate apparel must use product-only imagery. Items should be shown off-model, such as flat-lay or packaged product images.
- Creative must not include pornographic, sexually explicit, graphic, violent, or exploitative imagery.
- Creative must not use copyrighted or trademarked characters, logos, or branded assets unless the advertiser has the legal right to use them.
- Product claims must be truthful, supportable, and consistent with the product landing page.
- Creative may not imply affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, or authorization by a third party unless that relationship is accurate and verifiable.
Advertiser Responsibility
Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that all submitted products, offers, creative, claims, pricing, and landing pages comply with applicable laws, regulations, intellectual property rights, consumer-protection requirements, and DealNews policies.
Approval of any advertising content by DealNews does not waive these requirements and does not guarantee future approval of the same or similar content. DealNews may update these standards at any time.
